You have probably tried to quit many times. You probably tried going cold turkey. You probably tried using the patch or gum. Nothing has worked, you are still smoking. That makes you feel unhappy. You may even hate yourself for that.

Vaping is NOT harmless, and people who do not smoke should not start vaping. For them, it is a slight risk with no benefit.
But vaping is 20x safer than smoking. For smokers, it can either be a way of continuing to use nicotine without the dangers of all the toxic chemicals in cigarette smoke, or it can be a more effective way of quitting smoking than using the nicotine patch or gum.
The lung problems in the USA were all associated with the use of illegal backstreet oil-based THC compounds and Vitamin E Acetate in e-cigarettes. This is completely different from using legal vaping equipment.
