Cuba Cruise<\/strong><\/p>\n

In December 2014 Meg, Kate and I did a cruise around Cuba.<\/p>\n

We had a few hours to explore Havana, which had some fine old buildings:<\/p>\n

…. and some which were in dire need of repair:<\/p>\n

\"DecrepitBuilding\"<\/a><\/p>\n

There were still signs up about the revolution and Fidel Castro:<\/p>\n

This was our boat:<\/p>\n

\"CruiseBoat\"<\/a><\/p>\n

There were old cars everywhere:<\/p>\n

\"TwoCarsInPark\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"CarInBackstreet\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The first day we went to a dolphin show. Swimming with dolphins was fun, but for an additional fee they allowed regular tourists to perform “extra tricks” like these with the dolphins.<\/p>\n

One day we went to the ancient city of Trinidad, which had lots of interesting colonial architecture:<\/p>\n

There seemed to be a lot of nice restaurants, but we ate all our meals on the cruise boat.<\/p>\n

Christmas day we spent in Santiago. It was very hot.<\/p>\n

Old men were playing dominoes, putting their dominoes down loudly:<\/p>\n

The final day we spent on a beach on the Isle of Youth:

It was a very relaxing end to the trip.<\/p>\n

The cruise was a nice introduction to Cuba, and a chance to see different cities and experience different aspects of the island. It would have been nice to have a few extra days in Havana to see that properly, and to eat in some of the local restaurants, which are now privately run and said to be good.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
